2026 has already brought some significant milestones. This year, I’m turning 50 which means I am running the numbers on my 401(k), I am also watching my husband navigate Medicare, and helping my mother downsize after losing my father.
This year is also a significant milestone for Next50 as we are celebrating our ten-year anniversary. The overlap between my professional and personal life isn’t subtle. When we launched Next50, we said something that hardly anyone in philanthropy was willing to say out loud: aging isn’t a crisis to manage, it’s the greatest opportunity of our era. Ten years later, we’ve deployed nearly $90 million across 1,144 grants and 625 organizations in 41 states.
What’s ahead is bigger than anything behind us. By 2034, Americans over 65 will outnumber those under 18 for the first time ever, and I believe whoever leans in now will shape what the next chapter of American life. In 2027, we’ll launch a bold new strategic plan built with community input, focused on economic security, social inclusion, the built environment, and advancing our health. I share more of my reflections on where we’ve been and where we’re headed in my recent blog.
This month’s newsletter, we are excited to bring you our 10-year impact report and other projects that we are excited to share with you, like our Aging Investment Framework, and our newly launched podcast, The Future is Old. Thank you for partnering with us these past 10 years and we look forward to joining you in building the systems aging adults deserve. ~ Peter Kaldes, Esq. President and CEO

Next50 shares the special edition of our newsletter this May. This month marks both Older Americans Month and our 10th birthday! Over the past decade, Next50 has invested nearly $90 million to reshape how we support older adults. In 2016, our foundation was built on a simple but powerful belief: aging is not a problem to be managed, it’s one of the defining opportunities of our time.
