For Aging February 2025

Our February newsletter is available. This Black History Month, Next50 honors generations of Black leaders, visionaries, and changemakers whose courage and contributions have shaped American history- and continue to define our future.

We celebrate leaders in aging like Raymond A. Jetson who recently published Reimagining How Black Elders Could Age in America in Generations Today describing the wide-ranging experiences of aging across Black families in America. In this newsletter, we feature the Abolitionist Law Center led by Robert Saleem Holbrook and their report on compassionate release and addressing the crisis of the growing population of older adults in Pennsylvania’s prisons.  Gerontologists like Nadine Roberts Cornish who founded Colorado Alliance for Caregiving Youth continue to highlight the need to support and uplift caregivers. Organizations and past grantees of Next50 like the Center for African American Health in Denver, or the Tigray Community Center in Aurora provide services and resources that reflect and support the unique needs of the population they serve.

Black history is more than a reflection of the past as organizations and leaders like those mentioned above continue to shape our present and future. These are American voices, stories, and achievements that have paved the way and uplift the work being done in Colorado and across the U.S. to create a world that values aging. ~ Peter Kaldes, Esq. President and CEO

In this issue, we also highlight past grantees, and invite you to a screening of the new documentary Caregiving produced by Bradley Cooper, and more.
