Next50 is proud to partner with and support six wonderful organizations with $2.9 million in grant funding. These organizations are working hard to change aging across Colorado and the United States.
This period’s grantees are focused on a holistic and in-depth response to the forthcoming changes in Medicaid eligibility as outlined in the 2025 H.R.1 reconciliation bill. These grants will also bring digital equity to underserved rural communities in Colorado and study the affordability of long-term services and support.
Next50’s approach to funding combines grantmaking, sponsorships, and impact investing with the goal of supporting impactful services, practical research, effective policy, and narrative change.
Listed below are the organizations that received funding in the second period of 2026:
One of Next50’s biggest priorities this period was to create a multi-faceted response to the forthcoming impacts of H.R. 1, which will enact the deepest Medicaid cuts in the program’s history. This recent funding is intended to ease the administrative burdens organizations will face during implementation and prevent near-term coverage loss for Coloradans ages 50-64, and caregivers of older adults. We have constructed a coordinated portfolio that will address immediate, medium-term, and long-term needs.
Immediate needs will be addressed with Provecho Collective, a project with Trailhead Institute (Colorado, $450,000 over two years). This organization connects with food providers across the state to address local issues, strengthen resources, and champion policy changes surrounding hunger. This partnership will address the upcoming changes to SNAP and Medicaid as implemented by H.R. 1 by developing helpful resources, providing technical support, and dispersing subgrants to other nonprofits.
Prime Health (Colorado, $50,000) will tackle the medium-term response. They work to improve health care and advance health equity in underserved communities across Colorado. Changing Aging funding will enable Prime Health to lead a statewide initiative, the Colorado Medicaid Participatory Action Incubator, to help shape how the state’s compliance systems are built. This project will be done in response to the forthcoming H.R. 1 changes to Medicaid eligibility in an effort to ensure that the voices of the people most affected will be integrated into the new systems.
Long-term infrastructure changes will be made with Gary Community Ventures, a project of Impact Charitable (Colorado, $300,000 over two years). Funding will support the Benefits Transformation Fund, which seeks to overhaul Colorado’s public benefits infrastructure. This grant will recreate the outdated system by redesigning client and caseworker portals, centralizing income verification, and creating plain language communications. This work will strengthen the capacity of organizations across the state of Colorado and state agencies.

Colorado Health Institute (Colorado, $25,000) will use Next50 funding to analyze state-level policy options to make long-term services and supports more affordable and accessible to middle-income older adults. This project will improve the economic well-being of aging adults in Colorado and, once the report is complete, across the country as it is shared with other states facing similar caregiving issues.
Grantmakers in Aging (National, $50,000) connects funders in the aging space across the nation. This sponsorship will help them host their annual conference in Denver, Colorado, and provide support for plenary sessions and site visits to Denver-based nonprofits.
Older Adult Technology Services (Colorado, $525,000 over three years) delivers technology education and digital skills training to older adults across the state. This partnership will enable OATS to launch its Senior Planet Digital Discovery Lab, a mobile technology learning center inside an RV that will bring technology demonstrations to older adults in underserved regions of Colorado. This work will advance Next50’s mission of advancing digital literacy by exposing and training older adults on technologies that are increasingly necessary for managing health, finances, and daily life.
