Pride Month is a powerful call to action—a time to honor the visibility, dignity, and rights of LGBTQ+ people at every stage of life. For LGBTQ+ older adults, aging can be a source of deep pride, yet it also brings unique challenges—from social isolation to systemic health and economic disparities rooted in decades of discrimination.
At Next50, we stand with LGBTQ+ elders and the nonprofits across Colorado that champion their well-being. Organizations like The Center on Colfax, Amar más allá del entendimiento, and Rocky Mountain Equality are doing vital work—creating safe, affirming spaces, delivering essential services, and fostering connection, community, and celebration for LGBTQ+ older adults.
This work is more urgent than ever, as current federal policies are effectively trying to erase the existence of LGBTQ+ older adults. This Pride Month, we celebrate the organizations lifting up LGBTQ+ older adults—and we reaffirm our commitment to building a future where aging is equitable, inclusive, and dignified for all.
In the coming weeks, we’ll announce our latest grant recipients. But today, we’re thrilled to share an exciting step forward: Next50 is launching a new advocacy nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic opportunity for older Coloradans. This organization will center equity and inclusion in its mission, and we’re currently seeking visionary leadership and board members to shape its future. We invite you to spread the word or apply.
